Player Profile - Kimo

Abdelhakim "Kimo" Ismail has grown up playing soccer. He started playing competitively at the age of 12 with the Minnesota Thunder Academy, where he played until he was 18 years old. Kimo also played on the Roosevelt High School soccer team from his sophomore to senior year. After completing high school, Kimo trained with various clubs and semi-professional teams.

At the age of 21, Kimo went abroad and signed a contract to play with two different teams in Sweden (Nordvärmlands FF & Västanviks AIF), where he stayed for two and a half years. He then went on to train with Alicante FC in Spain for three months. After that, he played semi-professionally on Vlora FC before moving to Australia to play with Tweed United FC. Now, we’re proud to have him at Inter Minneapolis FC.

When Kimo thinks of Soccer, he sees all of the joy it has brought into his life. He loves being able to see his achievements over the years, such as signing contracts for teams. It shows his hard work paying off Soccer gives him the motivation to get up every day and go after his goals, one of those goals being to play professionally.

Thus far, some of his fondest memories include getting a standing ovation from fans after a game. At the end of the day, Kimo believes that part of the reason why you play the game is to entertain people, and getting a standing ovation proved that he did just that.

To get prepared for a game, Kimo likes to follow a routine that includes waking up early, praying in the morning, and meditating for 20 minutes. Meditation is a crucial part of his routine, as he likes being able to visualize himself and his opponents. Around lunchtime, he always makes sure to have yogurt and a cup of tea two hours before the game. Once it gets down to an hour before the game, Kimo takes a moment to journal about what he wants to achieve from the game and makes sure to set goals and expectations for himself.

When he's not playing soccer, Kimo enjoys being a fan. His favorite professional team is Real Madrid, as the team's philosophy and standards resonate with him. Kimo sees the high standards and expectations that the players and the team have for themselves. Being a Real Madrid fan has clearly rubbed off on him, as Kimo's teammates and players would also describe him as hardworking and disciplined.
